Court System

  1. The Small Claims Court allows people to sue for small losses of money or property ($12,000 or less).
  2. The Drug Courts which try to reduce the likelihood of criminals reoffending and substance abuse.
  3. The seven Circuit Courts all have original jurisdiction over all criminal and civil cases and they have exclusive jurisdiction over felony cases and cases including amounts of money that exceed $10,000.
  4. The Supreme Court is known as the last appellate court and it reviews the decisions of the Circuit Courts. This court is also in charge of making the court rules and laws.
